Mindfulness in Nature

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.
— John Muir

Science is catching up with what we intuitively know - that being outdoors in nature can be deeply restorative and healing. The idea of 'forest bathing' is becoming more popular whereby people simply open their senses to absorb the experience of being amongst trees. This can be surprisingly nourishing and resourcing, serving as a welcome antidote for our busy lives. Mindfulness helps us to slow down, acknowledge and appreciate the beneficial effects of our natural environment.

At Gwynedd Mindfulness we are able to offer one to one sessions of Mindfulness in the outdoors. This might form part of individual therapy work if appropriate. We can also provide tailored programmes for small groups.

Tara offers a 6 week Mindfulness in Nature course for either groups or individuals. The course is adapted from the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course with added reflections on being with the elements of earth, water, fire, wind and space. The majority of the sessions take place in the outdoors, weather permitting. Contact Tara to find out more about the 6 week course.
